Online Security Awareness 2026

Scammers have already targeted Adamus staff. One colleague lost his WhatsApp account after giving a caller his login PIN. Another was told their child had been in an accident and was asked to send MoMo urgently. Our executive team also got a fake “supplier” email asking us to pay into a new bank account.

Four threats to watch for

  1. Phone and WhatsApp scams: fake emergencies, prize “winnings” and friends’ accounts asking for money. Always call the person back on a number you already know.

  2. Phishing emails: links or attachments that steal your login or install malware. Check the sender’s address carefully (adarnusgh.com is not adamusgh.com).

  3. USB drives: a single infected drive can steal data or lock the whole network. Don’t plug unauthorised drives into company PCs. IT will soon block USB ports.

  4. Fake payment requests (BEC): urgent emails asking to change bank details. Always confirm them by phone first.

The golden rule: No bank, mobile network or IT staff will ever ask for your PIN or OTP.

If something feels wrong

  • Stop. Don’t send money, share codes, click links or plug in the drive.

  • Tell someone. Contact your supervisor, IT or HR right away, even if you’ve already clicked.

  • Don’t be embarrassed. There’s no blame, only action.
